What are the main safety standards for electric tilters?
2025-09-03 10:56:13

The safety standards for electric flipping machines are the core basis for ensuring the safety of equipment design, production, and use. Different countries/regions and industries will develop targeted specifications based on equipment characteristics, mainly divided into three categories: international general standards, Chinese national standards, and industry specific standards, as follows:

Chinese National Standard: Mandatory Requirements for Domestic Sales/Use

China's safety requirements for electric flip machines are enforced in the form of national standards, covering the entire process of mechanical, electrical, and operation. The core standards are as follows:

Basic General Safety Standards

GB/T 15706-2012 "General Principles for Safety Design of Machinery"

Equivalent adoption of ISO 12100 is the "general outline" for the design of electric flipping machines:

Require the equipment to incorporate safety concepts from the "conceptual design" stage, such as reducing the risk of pinch injuries through "avoiding sharp angles design" and preventing the entire machine from overturning through "center of gravity optimization";

Clarify the regulations for "safety signs": red warning signs must be posted in hazardous areas, and operation buttons must have clear functional labeling.

GB 5226.1-2019 "Mechanical Electrical Safety - Mechanical Electrical Equipment - Part 1: General Technical Conditions"

Equivalent to IEC 60204-1, mandatory requirements are proposed for the electrical system of electric flipping machines:

The power cord should adopt a "three-phase five wire system" with a grounding resistance of ≤ 4 Ω;

The control cabinet should have the ability to prevent dust and water, and the internal wiring should be neat and clearly labeled;

The emergency stop button must meet the "red, protruding design", and when pressed, it can cut off all power circuits, and reset requires manual operation.

Special safety standards for equipment

GB/T 37400.1-2019 "Safety Requirements for Logistics Warehousing Equipment Part 1: General Requirements"

Electric flipping machines are commonly used in logistics and warehousing scenarios, and must meet the special requirements for "material flipping and handling" in this standard:

The rated load identification must be permanently clear, and overloading is strictly prohibited;

The flipping mechanism needs to have a "buffering function": when starting/stopping, the speed should be gentle to avoid material slipping due to inertia;

If equipped with automatic positioning function, the positioning accuracy should be ≤± 5mm.

GB/T 28264-2012 "Crane Safety Monitoring and Management System"

For "heavy-duty electric flipping machines" with a load greater than 5 tons, it is mandatory to install a safety monitoring system:

Real time monitoring of parameters such as load weight, flipping angle, and motor temperature is required. When the threshold is exceeded, an automatic alarm will be triggered and the machine will be shut down;

The data needs to be storable for easy traceability of the cause of the malfunction.

Special scenario safety standards

GB 3836.1-2021 Explosive Atmosphere Part 1: General Requirements for Equipment

If the electric flipping machine is used in flammable and explosive environments such as chemical, oil and gas, it must comply with the "explosion-proof standards":

Motors, control cabinets, and cables must be explosion-proof to prevent electrical sparks from igniting flammable gases;

Mechanical components must adopt a 'spark free design'.

GB 12265.3-2019 "Safety Distance for Preventing Upper Limbs from Touching Hazardous Areas in Mechanical Safety"

For the "protection of moving parts" of the flipping machine: If there is a gap between the flipping frame and the fixed structure, it is necessary to ensure that the gap is ≤ 8mm or install a protective net.

Industry specific standards

Due to material characteristics or special production environments, some industries may propose stricter safety requirements based on national standards. Typical examples are as follows:

Food industry:

According to GB 16798-2010 "Safety and Hygiene of Food Machinery", electric flipping machines must meet the "hygiene level design":

The body material should be 304/316 stainless steel to avoid paint or coating peeling and contaminating food;

Seamless welding should be used at the gap to prevent the accumulation of material residue and the growth of bacteria;

Electrical components need to have the ability of "waterproof and anti rinse" to adapt to cleaning scenarios.

Automotive manufacturing industry:

Referring to QC/T 1087-2021 "Safety Requirements for Automotive Production Process Equipment", the flipping machine used for flipping automotive parts:

Need to have a "multi-point locking function" to ensure that there is no shaking when heavy components are flipped over;

The operation should support "dual hand start" to prevent single person misoperation.

Pharmaceutical industry:

Refer to the requirements of GMP for "equipment cleanliness":

The flipping machine needs to adopt a "no dead corner design" with a surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 μ m;

The drive system needs to have "low noise" to avoid noise pollution in the clean workshop environment.

Core points of standard implementation

Compliance verification: When purchasing an electric flipping machine, it is necessary to request the manufacturer to provide a "Product Qualification Certificate" and a "Type Test Report" to confirm that the equipment complies with the corresponding national/international standards;

Regular verification: During the use of the equipment, an annual "safety inspection" is required, with a focus on verifying whether the electrical grounding, limit function, and explosion-proof performance meet the standards;

Adaptation scenario: Select the corresponding standard equipment according to the usage environment to avoid safety hazards caused by "general equipment used in special scenarios".

In summary, the safety standards for electric flipping machines need to be "layered and matched" - first meeting the basic general standards, and then combining with equipment load and application industry to supplement special standards, ultimately ensuring operational safety throughout the entire lifecycle.
